Defining and Understanding the Metaverse Economy

Metaverse derives from the Latin universum (‘that which revolves around oneself’) and the Greek meta- (‘beyond’). It refers to an economic concept that goes beyond the limits of our current reality, aiming for a mixed reality, combining the real and virtual worlds. Its economy is not limited to a simple extension into the virtual, but relies on the progressive integration of key innovations, such as blockchain, AI, robotization and 3D rendering, defining new uses that are standardized not gradually but in sudden bursts.
