01
Metaverse derives from the Latin universum (‘that which revolves around oneself’) and the Greek meta- (‘beyond’). It refers to an economic concept that goes beyond the limits of our current reality, aiming for a mixed reality, combining the real and virtual worlds.
02
Short definition: Blockchain is a decentralized system that guarantees the security and immutability of data in the digital world. It acts as a distributed ledger, making it possible to trace and secure ownership of digital assets.
03
The Metaverse economy is not simply an extension of today’s digital economy. It represents a profound transformation, where blockchain, artificial intelligence and mixed realities collaborate to create autonomous economic universes.
04
The arrival of the Internet raised high hopes for the democratization of information, the empowerment of individuals, global collaboration without borders, the reduction of economic inequalities between small businesses and large institutions, and unprecedented freedom of expression.
05
In essence, complexity lies in the interconnection and constant dynamics of systems, whether natural or digital. The term comes from the Latin prefix – com meaning together/with, and the radical – place from the Latin verb plectere meaning to intertwine.
06
The new techniques brought about by the Metaverse economy, such as DAO, dynamic NFT and DID (decentralized identity), open up unprecedented perspectives.
07
In an environment where innovation and agility are essential, experimentation is becoming an essential strategy. Faced with the transformations brought about by the Metaverse economy, companies need to explore new approaches to testing concepts rapidly, without disrupting their entire structure.
08
Bpifrance Le Lab’s ‘Transformation in the digital age’ guide is aimed primarily at the managers of SMEs and ETIs, who are often disoriented when faced with the challenges of the digital age.
